Steve Thornton, a well known musician in the local music scene, joined Freeport in April 2007. He found woodwinds at a very early age. Within a very short time he discovered just about every other instrument known to man. These days he is focused on the sax but do not be surprised if he picks up a guitar, a bass, or plays some keyboards. During performances he has a percussion tree next to him allowing him to pick up the appropriate percussive toy to fill out the passage or augment what Herman is doing.

Like most musicians he has a vast array of past groups he has performed with honing his performance skills. Name a style of music and has performed it. Gospel, Jazz, R&B, Classical, Reggae. This experience has bled into his playing creating an exploration of melodies and solos not found in other musicians. A very soulful, appropriate, inquisitive, and smooth approach to performing.

Steve is fully qualified to be the front man, carrying the melodies, inspirational solos and is the "Frontman" for Freeport.
